American Junior Golf Association 2024 Traveling Internship

Are you looking for an internship in the sports industry that gives you the opportunity to travel, build network connections, and gain valuable experience to push your career forward? The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is accepting applications for the 2024 Spring and Summer Internship program!

You'll be working in a team dynamic daily, traveling to numerous championship golf courses helping conduct over 130 tournaments, and will have ample networking opportunities, which is the backbone of being successful in the sports industry. For each season, the following positions are available:

Communications Intern

Execute social media plan, shoot/edit photography and video and write and publish website stories.
Work with local media and facilitate sponsor branding.
Officiate on-course, starting and scoring of players, and tournament execution.

Operations Intern

General tournament set-up, execution, and breakdown of tournaments
Officiate on-course, starting and scoring of players, enforcing Pace of Play
Operate and maintains company vehicles and equipment inventory

AJGA interns are paid and can use the internship for school credit if applicable. All travel and lodging are covered along with some food costs during the duration of the internship. The AJGA only hires full-time from the program, which 86% of our staff participated in.

Dates of Importance

Spring Internship:
Internship runs from March 4 – May 7
Application due October 16

Summer Internship:
Internship runs from May 13 – September *End dates can be accommodated based on return to school.
Application due January 5

Traveling the country isn’t for everyone, so the AJGA does offer in-house internships at our National Headquarters in Braselton, GA in the following departments: Communications, Player Services and Finance. Girls on the Run Michiana Program Intern

What is Girls on the Run? 

Girls on the Run Michiana is a local non-profit that inspires 3 rd -8 th grade girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. We teach life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event.

Position Summary

For the best experience, interns are encouraged to consider a two-semester internship, but 1-semester internships will be considered. Due to the hands-on nature of program tasks, this is a hybrid internship with a mix of in-person and remote work. When applying, please indicate if you have transportation and your general hours of availability, as well as if you are seeking a 1-semester or 2-semester internship.

Some of the Things You’ll Do as a Program Intern:

  • Gain experience in behind-the-scenes program administration of a mid-size non-profit.
    Support hands-on program preparation activities and events.
  • Research data related to volunteer recruitment and program expansion.
  • Learn and support program data management for participants and volunteers.
  • Assist with expo/outreach events and social media platforms.
  • Assist with coach, liaison, and family communications, including designing and writing email campaigns.
  • Organize and assist with various aspects of training and volunteer appreciation events.
  • (2nd semester only) Coach a team of girls and visit other teams to provide support as needed.

Commitment

Interns are expected to work a minimum of 3-5 hours/week. Additional hours are available for students
needing additional hours for credit. Work times are flexible, with some tasks completed remotely via computer.

Preference is given to candidates with transportation available to come to our Granger office.

Qualifications

  • Excellent research, writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • A motivated self-starter with a desire to see the growth of the GOTR program in Michiana
  • Reliable and able to work to deadlines and check in regularly with supervisor
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong belief in the mission of Girls on the Run
