In this presentation, Associate Professor of Sports Management at the University of Tennessee Knoxville Sylvia Trendofilova meets with Notre Dame SMAC Department head Annie Coleman to discuss the background of sustainability in the sport industry.
Additionally, a brief overview will be provided about the past, present and future sustainability efforts in a variety of sport settings, such as outdoor recreational activities, collegiate sports, professional sports, and the Olympics. The main focus will be on the Olympic Games as they are the ultimate mega-event in sport and attract a large number of individuals for a short period of time, therefore negatively impacting the local environment.
